Guided Tour of Córdoba's Patios

About this experience

Artencordoba, a Córdoba company of art historians, runs this walk through San Basilio, the patio quarter between the Alcázar and the old city wall. It is not the Viana Palace. These are private homes, whose owners keep them in flower all year and open them to the tour, and the entry fee for the patios is included. Guests on the Viator version of the same tour count five patios; in winter you may see fewer.

Guides explain how the Roman and Moorish house plan made the patio the heart of the home, and how the May competition started about a hundred years ago. The owners are often around and know the guides. One guest wrote that Emilio had "good relationships with the patio owners", which gets you a friendlier welcome than you would get with a single ticket.

The downside is space. The patios are small, other groups arrive at the same time, and two guests in 2026 mentioned squeezing in. Artencordoba sells the same walk on its own site for €20 with the ticket, and as the art historian tour on Viator. During the May festival the meeting point moves to the Town Hall. For the palace's 12 patios in one place, see the patios ticket.

As a guided tour sceptic I have to say this tour hosted by Alehandra was excellent [...] Highly recommended if you want access to wonderful patios away from the crowds.
