Reviews of the Palacio de Viana from June and July 2026 mention building and irrigation work in a central patio. That matters if you are paying to see patios, so we checked every source we could find.
Short version: the reports come from guests, not from the palace. As of 7 October 2026 there is no official notice and no local press story about it.
The quick answer
Two GetYourGuide guests reported works in June and July 2026: irrigation work in one of the central patios, and "quite a bit of construction". The palace's website, palaciodeviana.com, carries no notice, and we found no coverage in the Córdoba press. The other patios and the garden stayed open. Ask at the box office or call +34 957 496 741 before a photo-focused visit.

Is there construction at the Viana Palace?
Guests reported irrigation works in one of the central patios in June and July 2026. No official notice exists.
The palace's official site lists events and hours but no works, and its visits page only says the palace may close spaces "por razones organizativas, de conservación o por seguridad". Searches of Cordópolis, Diario Córdoba, ABC Córdoba and El Día de Córdoba turned up nothing on works at Viana in 2026, and the owner, Fundación Kutxabank, has published nothing on it either.
Nothing official exists, so treat the works as real but unannounced: no scope, no end date.
The patios ticket cancels free up to 24 hours before, so you can check the works first and still keep your date.
Check dates for the patios and garden ticketWhat did guests actually see?
One central patio with irrigation work in progress, and a route that was harder to follow than usual.
Richard, on GetYourGuide in June 2026, loved the visit but flagged it: "One minor problem in that one of the central patios has irrigation works in progress at the moment. We discovered access to the other patios through the shop by accident so some signage would have been helpful."
Sidra, a month later, was less forgiving: "whilst it was pretty, it was limited since there was quite a bit of construction going on." On Tripadvisor, two summer reviewers wrote that the gardens could be better maintained and that the pots needed watering, which fits a patio with its irrigation half done.
| When | Where posted | What was reported |
|---|---|---|
| June 2026 | GetYourGuide (Richard) | Irrigation works in one central patio; other patios reached through the shop |
| June 2026 | Tripadvisor | Gardens could be better maintained; pots needed watering |
| July 2026 | Tripadvisor | Maintenance a let-down in parts of the garden |
| July 2026 | GetYourGuide (Sidra) | "Quite a bit of construction"; visit felt limited |
Which patio is affected?
Guests only say "one of the central patios". None names it, so we won't guess.
The palace has 12 patios and a garden, and the middle of the complex holds several of them. If you arrive and one is fenced off, carry on: the route loops, and as Richard found, the shop is one way through to the patios beyond. Our patio-by-patio guide lists all 12, so you can tick off what you did see.

Is the Viana Palace still worth visiting during the works?
Yes. One patio out of 12 still leaves you eleven patios and a 1,200 m2 garden for €8.50.
Most reviews from the same months are glowing. Anita, in September 2026, called it "Well laid out and tranquil. The patios and rooms are a sweet respite from the heat of Cordoba."
The ticket price did not drop for the works, and the online ticket costs about the same as the door. If photographs of one specific patio are the point of your trip, ask first. Everyone else should go.
